Southern FM’s Danny and Nicky in the Morning along with the RDF Group asked Sussex to switch off the lights - and Sussex didn't let us, or the planet down.

Thanks to everyone who took part and all those who didn't, well we hope it made you think a bit more about how you can save a little more energy and together with the rest of Sussex and the world - make a big difference.

On Saturday, March 29, 2008 between 8pm and 9pm we saw darkness fall over the county with Sussex switching off all non-essential lights and appliances. Read on to find out how you can send us your videos of this momentous event.

Why we turned out the lights?
It’s estimated that Sussex generates 8, 849,000 kg of carbon emissions each year, the equivalent to filling 50,000 double decker buses or nearly 320 million party balloons.
